I drove to Athens, GA on a snowy day from Martinsville, Virginia to discover sunshine, cars with tops down and students in shorts and thought that I had discovered “Heaven”!!! Actually, it was close as I became enamored with the UGA Art School and Interior Design department. I began my journey into this wonderful design community after my acceptance to the University of Georgia. My eyes were wide open as I ventured into a new adventure learning new skills, meeting lifelong friends and discovering my true self while only being a day’s drive away from home and family.

Since then, Atlanta, GA has been my home! I was married, raised two fabulous kids, and made the jump from design to representing some of the most forward-thinking furniture and textile manufacturers in our industry. My son Chris has moved on to become my business associate and covers the TN market for us. You will see more details in his bio. My daughter Lily is an event planner for MD Group after graduation from Georgia State University. She travels the world planning events for pharmaceutical companies and I am happy to report that I have been the recipient of several nice travel opportunities with her! Lily has transferred to the healthcare division to work with the Covid-19 vaccine trials and gaining tremendous experience.

When I am not with the kids, my passion is renovating houses and volunteering for the Tiny House movement (MicroLife Institute) as well as the LBC (Lifecycle Building Center) where I see the creation of incredible living spaces using recycled materials in a smaller footprint conserving material and land resources and bringing communities closer together. I also volunteer with the Greeting Committee at my church, All Saints in midtown, Atlanta, GA. I am up for an exciting travel adventure just about anytime one presents itself after our Covid-19 vaccines are available. I love to see and learn about new places. Hiking and Cycling is also a passion for me especially when I need a break from my renovations on my cabin in Highlands, NC.

I love music! This passion began as far back as high school when I created my garage band in the suburbs of Atlanta, GA. I played bass guitar for several bands and traveled for several years with a band called “Copper into Steel” becoming a “road warrior” and learning the pleasures of delicacies such as hot dogs from the Tiger Market Gas Station. It did not take long to find that the business part of the music industry became more appealing. I started Hangar Productions while I was at Middle Tennessee State University representing seven bands from blue grass to funk. I graduated with a degree in Music Business Management.

While building the Hangar booking agency, I sought opportunities in sales to learn new skills. I started with TQL and mastered the art of selling freight and transportation for everything from water to furniture nationwide. As I progressed, I was offered an opportunity to promote software to track Government regulatory specifications for products during the manufacturing process. As luck would have it, Redhead Enterprises was hiring a TN representative and enticed me with the talk of Neocon in Chicago, HD Show in Las Vegas and BDNY in New York. I couldn’t resist an opportunity to join the family business as the heir apparent with promises of travel, hard work and financial reward! I was sold and have truly enjoyed getting to know the business and bond with my manufacturers and clients. I am so glad that I took that leap of faith into this new adventure.

I recently joined the event committee and Social Media Chairman with the TN Chapter of IIDA so I could use my organization skills for planning events and blend my music business experience with the Architectural & Design Community. My boss ( AKA “my mom”) is just thrilled to share her years of experience in this industry with me! I am getting an honorary second degree in “learning to be a rep” from the person I respect most in the world!

I married my college sweetheart, Monika Sorensen in August 2016 and we are raising our 18 month old, Linnea Lo Conrad who is quite the adorable handful.  Life is a process and not an event and I am ready to take what each day gives me! Our dog, Lilly is just getting a taste of things to come…Stay Tuned!

I moved from Tuscaloosa, AL to Atlanta fulfilling my desire to be involved in the Atlanta Design Community. After graduating from the Art Institute of Atlanta with a BFA in Design my first opportunity came at the retail level at the Home Depot Expo store. There I was able to get ground level experience working with clients who were spending their own money to create better spaces in their own homes. It also gave me the opportunity to deal with both vendors and clients on the customer service side. I have a passion for the details that make projects big and small work well for the client whether it is one office or an entire building.

Having never lost the desire to work for a design firm, I moved to Focus Design Interiors. My responsibilities included managing three designers while executing design programming, space planning and schematic designs for her clients. As the climate of the economy changed, so did the projects and job opportunities. Concerned about stability in the job market, I seized the opportunity to work with Extra Space Storage as a storage consultant and property manager. With my passion for organizing and technology, the storage consultant position led to experience in management and working with all types of people. Just like in design, once you think that you have everything worked out, something will change and you must adapt to each situation.

These positions gave me the chance to develop my skills in preparation to be a project coordinator for Redhead Enterprises. This job uses my abilities as a designer for FFE selection, specification writer, logistics coordinator, sample orders, custom specifications and catering for our lunch and learns. I feel as if I am part of the design team that helps our clients succeed! The details matter and my job is to get the details right!!!

During my spare time, I love to babysit my niece, Marley! I am quite involved in her life and I am there for all of her special events including Tuesday night dance class. She keeps me hopping! When possible, I volunteer at Habitat for Humanity.  I have worked at the Restore as well as helped with construction projects on various Habitat Houses.
